One Hundred Haiku
This anthology was the result of a very successful 2008
poetry project when just about everyone involved with our organisation started writing short poems in the Japanese haiku style, then got together to hand-bind them into these attractive books.
The anthology contains the 100 best poems by staff, tutors and students of Literacy Aotearoa Dunedin, organised into sections such as 'Nature', 'Family and Friends', and 'Animals'. The book includes a section on how to write a haiku, and a poetic memorial to a tutor who passed away just before the book was published. These poems are from the 'Literacy and Learning' section:
The command of words
Empowering hearts and minds
Concepts taking flight

Haiku helps your health
Take aurally twice daily
With tai chi/chai tea

I help you to write
But you teach me so much more
We learn together
Joyce
Each week I learn that
Computers are fun to use
To write haiku on.
