The Warning

Peculiar, nuclear, toxic waste -
For sixty years it's been dumped all over the place.
It's a little worse than egg on your face,
More of a threat to the human race.

Carcinogenic, cancer scare -
Seems to be increasing in people around here.
Slowly introduced are things to fear:
Glowing toys, x-rays and watches we wear,

Microwave ovens and cell phone towers -
To name them all would take me hours.
When most people think of radioactive showers,
They think of bombs delivered by superpowers.

We've all heard the warning
Of global warming:
Information that isn't reassuring,
Like penguin numbers falling.

Greenpeace is pining,
For freshwater dolphins dying.
Extinction numbers are climbing
As pining turns to whining.

Governments deliberate,
Or should I say procrastinate;
On carbon emissions,
Each country can liberate.

Rainforests are felled
And rivers befouled,
So a few can get richer
Than the rest of the crowd.

Please save the planet !
I ask for our children's future home,
Not only for our species,
But for all that exist on this globe.
